Are trees helpful to humans? YES.
…Are humans helpful to trees?
I’m so sick of everything in the universe being evaluated by its usefulness to humans, as if its applicability to our personal schemes determines its right to, you know, EXIST.
I understand that we are an epigenetic species and our neocortex is hardwired for pattern recognition, such as utility. Which is practical and all but what happened to fucking BALANCE? Symbiosis, that’s as natural and legit as any other evolutionary trend!
Just because you can’t eat it, fuck it, or build a house out of it—or would rather use something else to achieve those goals—doesn’t mean you’re not a dick for stepping on it.
I think this might just be my first tumblr rant, but really.
My greatest wish is just that people might start asking “How helpful are HUMANS to the global ecosystem?”
